Elon Musk Highlights Qatar Airways' Starlink-Powered Fleet as In-Flight Connectivity Expansion Accelerates

Qatar Airways has become the world's largest operator of Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft, offering internet speeds of up to 500 Mbps across more than 130 destinations. Elon Musk highlighted the development as the airline prepares to introduce the Qsuite Next Gen business class, while over 11 million passengers have already used the connectivity service.

Qatar Airways has emerged as the operator of the world's largest fleet of Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft, drawing attention from Elon Musk as the airline expands high-speed in-flight connectivity across its global network.

The carrier currently offers Starlink internet services on Boeing 777, Airbus A350, and Boeing 787 aircraft operating to more than 130 destinations worldwide. The satellite-based system delivers speeds of up to 500 Mbps, enabling passengers to stream content, conduct business, and remain connected seamlessly while flying at an altitude of 35,000 feet.

The expansion of Starlink connectivity comes alongside Qatar Airways' upcoming Qsuite Next Gen business class. The upgraded premium cabin, featuring larger quad suites, double beds, and enhanced privacy, was unveiled by Chief Executive Officer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer during the 2024 Farnborough Airshow.

Passengers have widely praised the reliability of the onboard internet service. Members of the airline's Privilege Club receive unlimited complimentary access, while other travelers are offered 45 minutes of free connectivity. More than 11 million passengers have been connected through the service so far.

The combination of industry-leading satellite internet capabilities and the next-generation Qsuite product underscores Qatar Airways' efforts to strengthen passenger experience and redefine long-haul travel standards, positioning the airline at the forefront of innovation in commercial aviation.
